A Path Towards Dental Hygiene

Although there are many paths that one can take to dentistry, I will try to provide the basic foundation in becoming a dental hygienist.

​

If you are in college at this moment, ... 

​

  1. ​Obtain an undergraduate bachelor's degree (science preferred) 

  2. Complete pre-reqs (if need be) and enroll in a dental hygiene program at your state. The general pre-reqs (although it varies from each state) of dental hygiene include:​

    • Communications â€‹â€‹

    • Math (College Algebra / Stats)

    • Anatomy & Physiology 

    • Language & Creative Arts 

    • American History & Political Science 

    • Sociology 

    • Psychology 

    • Chemistry 

    • Micro Bio

    • Nutrition

  3. Complete your Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's in Dental Hygiene 

  4. Register and complete the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE)

  5. Volunteer or find work as a Registered Dental Hygienist !!
